Introduction

Come paint with me! Let’s go back to some basics and paint the simple form of the sphere. Listed below are the materials I used for the exercise, but please don’t feel pressured to buy exactly the ones below. Using student grade paint, any inexpensive paintbrush and commonly available watercolor paper will do just as well.

Enjoy! And if you have questions, leave a comment in the comments section. If you’d like to share your finished work with me, send a photo of it to marosemagpily@gmail.com. 🙂

Materials Used In this Exercise:

  • Royal and Langnickel #9 Round Brush
  • Yarka Watercolors: Payne’s Gray (If you don’t have Paynes Gray, any color will do)
  • Strathmore Mixed Media Sketchbook (I tested the exercise on Berkeley Watercolor paper, which is a cheaper paper, and it will do for this exercise. However, be aware that cheaper paper tends to tear more easily after several applications of water)

VIDEO VIEWING TIPS:

  •  If I’m speaking too fast or too slow for you, use the Playback Speed option in YouTube to adjust the video speed.
  •  I sometimes tend to mumble when I get into the painting process. Turn on the subtitles so you can understand me better.
